Chaucer Barn is a year-round private venue equally perfect for intimate gatherings or larger wedding celebrations. Set within 20 acres of stunning natural gardens, unique wild flowers, woodland flora and fauna. The barn offers luxury accommodation for up to 18 guests, with additional space for 20 more in our eco-lodges.

We want your wedding or event to be exactly what you want. We don’t insist on our own caterers or suppliers – we provide the blank canvas with which you can create your perfect day!
Tired of being told how to plan your own wedding, when to eat, what to drink, when to dance, when to go home? At Chaucer Barn, we do things differently. You have free rein to design, plan and style your wedding the way you want it. We differ from the standard one size fits all wedding – we fit in with you rather than the other way round – presenting you with a blank canvas on which to project your own style and personality. Because no two weddings are ever the same here, we have a unique wealth of experience. You will therefore find our free-of-charge wedding service enormously helpful.
We encourage you to visit the barn as often as you like so that you can get a feel for what will be a blank canvas, you are most welcome to decorate both inside and outside to your own individual style. We try to do everything differently from the rest of the wedding industry in order that your special day is as unique and individual as you are.
Home from home
unwind in comfort, elevated by exceptional space.
Because you have exclusive privacy at Chaucer Barn you will have had up to 24 hours in which to relax with your house guests, sink your roots and take ‘ownership’ of the Barn. Therefore, when the majority of your friends and family arrive for the wedding day you will have already adopted Chaucer Barn as your home. When your guests arrive you are inviting them into your space – unlike the typical wedding venue where you arrive (and leave!) at the same time as your guests so that it is the venue essentially plays host.
Think of it as your own private estate. We get out of your hair, allowing you to entertain your guests, no differently from how you would at home, only here you have acres and acres of beautiful, award winning space!
Woodland romance
where the forest becomes your cathedral.
You don’t have to believe in fairies to get married in the woods! Venture over the parkland at Chaucer Barn and you’ll find an enchanted glade tucked into a tiny valley all it’s own. Surrounded by trees of all shapes and sizes, this is the place where many happy couples have chosen to tie the knot.
Our Woodland ceremony space has been described as many things: peaceful, intimate, serene, private, magical. You can hold your entire wedding in the Woodland glade, say your vows in front of our living Willow arch and then move to the rose covered pergola to sign the book.

A winter story

Winter is such a wonderful time of year to tie the knot from crisp, festive weather to cosy, intimate gatherings, there’s so much to embrace.
Autumn and Winter weddings are now becoming much more popular. Off-season can be terrific for making your budget go further. There is less demand for photographers, caterers etc, so you have a better chance to book your ideal suppliers.
Stone circle ceremonies
sacred stones, enduring love.
Stone circles hark back to ancient pre-Christian celebration of nature. Whilst not being for everyone, many find this space at the end of our oak avenue a deeply spiritual environment.
Buried beneath each of the eight stones is a crystal (four Merlinite crystals and four Muldovite crystals). In the centre of the circle there sits a huge crystal of Merlinite.

Chaucer Barn weddings are NOT a ‘one size fits all’ wedding venue. You have a blank canvas on which to stamp your own identity. The barn offers a ceremony space for up to 100 guests.
Warm timber beams, soft natural light and lovingly restored features create an inviting atmosphere that feels both charming and timeless. With its vaulted ceilings and beautifully crafted wooden interiors forming a romantic, naturally styled backdrop. Blending countryside authenticity with modern comfort, Chauncer Barn provides a serene and character-filled space for the moment you say “I do.”
