Chaucer Barn offers luxury self-catering accommodation for up to 18 guests. The barn is set in 4 acres of landscaped gardens, surrounded by a further 16 acres of parkland. There are 9 bedrooms, 7 bathrooms, 5 reception rooms, a games room and an 18 seated dining table.
A space to make your own
The barn has been thoughtfully designed to feel like a home away from home, elegant, relaxed, and entirely your own. As a fully independent venue, you have complete freedom to select your own caterers, bar service, and florists.
Inside, the barn radiates warmth and understated luxury. Exposed beams, original brick-and-flint walls an atmosphere that’s both refined and welcoming.
The main hall is the heart of the space, a striking setting with a grand banquet table (which can be moved for ceremonies), an ornate chandelier, and a mezzanine lounge with a open fireplace.
Each bedroom has its own distinctive character, with carefully curated interiors and many with floor-to-ceiling windows framing views of the sweeping grounds.
Ground floor
The Barn floor plan offers a unique blend of communal and private spaces. The ground floor centers around the Banqueting Hall and the fully equipped Kitchen, alongside social areas like the intimate Snug, the bright Morning Room, and the lively Games Room. A more tranquil space, the Pink Sitting Room, provides a cozy retreat. For sleeping arrangements, the property includes distinct suites such as the Rainbow Bath suite, the Hessian Bed room, and the Orchard Bed room, ensuring varied options for guests. Practicality is covered with a dedicated Laundry room, while the outdoor spaces are integrated through access to the Garden Bed areas.
First floor
The first floor provides the majority of the sleeping and bathing facilities, offering six distinct bedrooms: the Black Bed, Flint Bed, White Bed, Amber Bed, Green Bed, and Blue Bed rooms. These are complemented by ample washing facilities, including three separate Bath rooms, one of which is designated the Gold Bath, plus an additional dedicated Shower room. For relaxation, guests can enjoy a shared space in the elevated Top Sitting Room.

Outstanding natural beauty
Chaucer Barn is situated on the edge of the charming village of Gresham in North Norfolk. It is tucked into a valley classified as an area of outstanding natural beauty. The beautiful unspoilt coast is just two and a half miles away, offering the vast white sandy beaches of Holkham and Wells and the ‘Poppyland’ towns of Sheringham and Cromer. We are also very near to the pretty Georgian town of Holt, with its boutiques and cafés. The area features sailing in the National Trust salt marshes, beautiful walks and year-round birdwatching.
You can explore the Norfolk Broads, which are a mere thirty minute drive away, and we can recommend lots of historic places of interest to visit, such as the Holkham and Blickling Estates.
