Eco Lodges

Unwind, explore, and reconnect with nature

Chaucer Barn has designed and built 5 cutting edge, self-contained eco lodges hidden in the woods. They are exquisitely crafted and luxurious and can accommodate up to 4 guests each. Crucially, you can find them only a short walk from the Barn, on the edge of the parkland. There are two large lodges and three smaller lodges. They feature all the comforts of home in an awe-inspiring location.

Each lodge nestles in a unique setting, with bathing and kitchen facilities, a wood-burning stove complete with logs, mood lighting and the gorgeous views and sounds of the parkland and it’s wildlife.

Large lodges

Chaucer Barn’s large lodges provide the perfect romantic escape from the hustle and bustle of the Barn when it’s full of your guests.

There are two large lodges, each of which features exquisite craftsmanship. They are constructed from timber from the Yew tree, hence their names – Yew One and Yew Two. The bed and worktop in each are hand-made from polished 1400 year old Yew.

Imagine waking up on your first morning of married life to the sounds of the skylark. Will you breakfast together at your lodge, or stroll over to the Barn to catch up on the previous night’s hilarity with friends and family?

Small lodges

There are three smaller lodges, each one fitted out to the same high standard as the large lodges. Two of them are constructed from London Plane timber, and one is constructed from Oak, hence their names; London Plane One and Two, and Oak. The bed and worktop in each are hand-made from prime examples of the same matching type of timber.

In each lodge we provide binoculars through which to watch our wildlife, including; Barn owls and a family of Kites. You may also be lucky enough to spot various mammals (including deer, foxes, badgers, rabbits, hares, squirrels, stoats, weasels, voles and field mice) as well as many species of birds, amphibians and invertebrates.

Your own private retreat

All of our Eco lodges have been hand built by local craftsmen; the fixtures, fittings, and beds are made from a specific species of ‘wiggly’ wood. A fully fitted kitchen, mood lighting and a wood burning stove complete the cabin-in-the-woods romance of these gorgeous luxury hideaways

Part of the exceptional north Norfolk coast (an AONB – Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) our 5 lodges are just 2.5 miles from the beach.
The National Trust nature reserve, stretching from Blakeney to Wells boasts the UK’s largest colony of Grey seals, and at low tide some the biggest beaches you are likely to find anywhere in the world.
To the south-east, the famous Norfolk Broads, are less than a thirty minute drive away.
